DataServer is an enterprise output manager that gives you centralized job management, printer control and job workflow automation. DataDoc is designed to meet the requirements of taking various input data streams and composing PostScript print files. DataDoc provides the ability to merge static forms defined in XML with the extracted field data. Using the DataDoc Designer, the forms are laid out in a WYSIWYG manner, which can include images, lines, shading, and static text. The DataDoc composition engine runs under DataServer control, resulting in a seamless integration within the customer environment and application composition. DataServer provides a centralized point of control for all jobs and is robust enough to facilitate a variety of job management and data conditioning features to drive multiple high-speed network printing, workgroup printers, etc.
Start the process by sending data from the mainframe using JES DataGateway. JES DataGateway will allow the ability to send data from the mainframe via TCP/IP printing protocols. Optionally, there is the ability to encrypt and compress the data prior to transmission allowing greater security and faster download. All JES control information is passed to NearStar’s DataServer output manager to help control print based on specific parameters. NearStar also has the ability to integrate into other mainframe products if these are already purchased.
NearStar ATOM Enhanced Accountability Trackign & Reporting
The NearStar Accounting Tracking Operation Management (ATOM) system is a modular java-based platform which accumulates and generates job accounting records, provides custom report capability, and allows the print enterprise to track the status of print jobs from receipt to completion.
Jobs are tracked by scanning bar codes on a cover page or job piece as that job goes from one finishing station to the next. The post-print finishing tasks that any given print job could go through are defined in the system so that as a barcode is scanned, that task is marked complete. When all the tasks associated with that job are complete, the job is marked complete. The post-print finishing tasks can be followed in any order. Certain users can modify the workflow while the job is in progress by adding or deleting tasks required for that job to complete.
